Before they can certify with their K9, STAR 1 Canine Handlers must first qualify as Ground Searchers.

STAR 1 uses NASAR's canine certification standards for area search, trailing, human remains detection and first responder disaster (live and cadaver) and has developed rigorous testing procedures for any specialites not identified.

STAR 1 has also developed evaluation procedures to aid handlers in assessing a K9's suitability for SAR training.

 
 

Training & Public Events
