Founded in 1993...

STAR 1 was created when fire and EMS personnel in Story County, Iowa, recognized there was a need for advanced search and rescue capabilities to handle certain types of hazardous situations involving missing and/or entrapped subjects.

Since then we have evolved into a state wide search team that has responded to counties throughout Iowa as well as in eastern Nebraska and western Illinois. We also provide technical rescue services to Story county.
